We’re incredibly proud to share that our Wiltshire & Bath TBN Headline Sponsor, The National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC), have officially become a Certified B Corporation™!
This prestigious certification puts the NSBRC among a growing global community of nearly 10,000 businesses that use business as a force for good — and we couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate this milestone with them.
What is B Corp Certification?
B Corps are companies verified by B Lab™ to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. To become certified, businesses must score at least 80 on the rigorous B Impact Assessment — and the NSBRC smashed this benchmark with a score of 124.7.
Why This Matters
As the UK’s only permanent venue for independent homebuilding advice and support, the NSBRC has already helped over a quarter of a million people create Better Sustainable Homes since opening in 2007. And now, they’re putting just as much effort into becoming a Better Sustainable Business.
Their impressive sustainability progress includes:
-
Reducing CO₂ emissions by 23% in the last three years
-
Cutting landfill waste by 17% in 2024/25
-
Operating as a business that’s 69% employee-owned, embedding ethics, care and community into everything they do
A Huge Moment for the Industry
Joining UK B Corp pioneers like Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, The Guardian and The Big Issue, the NSBRC is now among the first 3,000 certified B Corps in the country — and the first of its kind in the self build and renovation industry.
Harvey Fremlin, Managing Director of the NSBRC, says:
“We’re proud of this milestone and becoming part of this global movement. But we know the journey doesn’t end here. As part of the growing B Corp community, we’ll keep striving to improve and become a Better Sustainable Business.”
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, adds:
“Welcoming The NSBRC is an exciting moment for the Self Build & Renovation industry. They’re paving the way for a new way of doing things.”
Congratulations Team NSBRC on this milestone achievement!
